It All Started at Home

Kristy’s journey to Orphan Care Alliance began in her own home. She and her husband were foster parents for years. They even had the privilege to adopt through foster care. Her husband, a local pastor, invited OCA to connect with their church.

“He LOVED what OCA was about and everyone he met at OCA,” Kristy recalls. “He noticed a position opened that he thought fit my skills and experiences and encouraged me to apply. The more I got to know what OCA was about, the more excited I got. I was very blessed that OCA saw potential and hired me! It’s been a joy!”

As a Family Outreach Caseworker, Kristy’s days are filled with connection. “I meet in my client’s home getting to knowthem and their children. I get to provide them with a helping hand up, encouragement and accountability at working toward goals they set with me. I pray for them and with them. I get to introduce them to amazing people within the church who want to ‘do life with them.’”

Her favorite part of the job?

“Partnering with the Holy Spirit in the lives of my clients to bring new perspective and hope into their current situation,” she explains. “I also love it when clients let me hold their babies!”

Kristy’s passion for her work at Orphan Care Alliance is matched by her conviction that the Church has a powerful role to play in family preservation.

“It’s also a joy when the church rallies around these families and do what the church family was intended to do,” Kristy shares. “I believe more people/churches would get involved if they were aware of the proximity of the need. If they realized just how many kids/families in their area could use help.”

Kristy may spend much of her time in homes, on calls, and connecting with caseworkers — but at the heart of it all, she’s on a mission to bring hope, encouragement, and the love of Christ to every family she meets.
