We know that parenting a child from a hard place can be difficult. And we also know that not everyone “gets it.” You run from appointment to appointment looking for help for your child. You get calls from your child’s school about their behaviors. Your family members give those disapproving glances.
But, did you know that OCA “gets it?” And we are here to help. Not only do we have support groups and training for foster and adoptive families, but we also have an annual conference coming up soon. The Help, Hope, Heal Conference is for you! Not only will you meet others who are in similar situations, but you will also hear from professionals who can help you.
What To Expect At The Help, Hope, Heal Conference
Kristin Berry from Confessions of an Adoptive Parent will be our keynote speaker. Kristin gets it. She and her husband, Mike have adopted 8 children. Kristin will be sharing her family’s personal experience and encouraging us to continue to do the hard things.
Other topics that will be covered at this year’s conference include soul care, school struggles, marriage, and reaching the heart of your child to name a few. All sessions are led by experienced professionals. OCA wants to connect you with the resources you need for your family and will also have an area for you to explore groups, therapists, and more.
Many times when we are struggling, we tend to isolate ourselves. Don’t! Community is so important. The Help, Hope, Heal conference will not only provide education to help you better care for your children but will also give you advice on caring for YOU. Let this conference help you build or grow a community of support. OCA invites you to this safe place where you will be loved, not judged.
Plan now to attend the Help, Hope, Heal Conference on October 27th at Highview Baptist Church on Fegenbush Lane. You can find out more details here or if you’re ready to learn more ways to help your child and build community then register by following this link. We look forward to seeing you there!
