Even One Month Can Make a Difference for Foster Youth

From Chaos to Calm: A Five-Week Turnaround

Five weeks. That’s all it took for Carson’s* story to begin changing.

When he first met his OCA Life Coach, James, in early September 2025, life was turbulent. Carson had been expelled from school after a series of angry outbursts – even throwing chairs when frustration took over. He was confined to his residential facility, only allowed to leave for class.

But God often starts His best work in the smallest moments.

Small Moments Bring Big Impact

Week by week, James showed up. Their outings were simple—walking across the Big Four Bridge, fishing, playing games at Malibu Jack’s, grabbing a meal together. Slowly, trust began to build. Carson started talking about his feelings instead of acting them out. He practiced calming himself down. He began to believe that maybe, just maybe, change was possible.

Within five weeks, the difference was dramatic. Carson’s school behavior improved, and his privileges expanded. Those closest to him saw what hope and connection can do in such a short time.

There Are More Like Carson That Need Someone Like You

There are so many young people like Carson – longing for someone to see them, believe in them, and remind them that their story isn’t over.

“If anyone . . . sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth (1 John 3:17–18, NIV).”

That’s what Life Coaches do. They love in action and truth. They carry hope into heavy places and watch God bring transformation.

Could you be that person for a foster youth who needs someone in their corner?
