“We Are All Called to Care.”

When you’ve spent decades serving the local church, you develop a heart for connection. That’s exactly what David Preston brings to his role at OCA.
“I spent 30 years in church ministry,” David shares. “Stepping into this role with Orphan Care Alliance felt like a natural next step – an opportunity to equip churches to care for vulnerable children and families more intentionally.”
David serves as the Regional Ministry Leader for Orphan Care Alliance’s central and northern Kentucky. He connects with churches and community groups across 37 counties. David wants the churches in his region, and the people in the pews, to know that everyone can do something.
“Not everyone is called to foster, but we’re all called to care,” David explains. “You can make a meal, mow a lawn, mentor a teen, or simply sit with a parent who feels overwhelmed and pray with them.”
Building Bridges in Central and Northern Kentucky
David remembers one conversation early in his time with OCA that left a mark: “A family shared how lonely they felt during their adoption process. That stayed with me. Churches should be the first place people turn to for support, and I want to help make that a reality.”
“My job is to build bridges between people, churches, and resources. And, to help every believer see that ministry to vulnerable families isn’t optional. It’s part of the Gospel. Every church has the potential to become a safe place for families who are struggling. Sometimes it starts with just one person willing to say yes.”
Whether he’s training ministry leaders, networking with agencies, or encouraging a discouraged family – David knows this is Kingdom work, and he adds, “God is moving in Kentucky. I just get to be part of it.”
