Imagine being told today that you needed to pack up your things because tonight you would be moving. That sounds extreme to most of us, but for many kids in foster care, it’s a constant reality.
For approximately 1,800 children and youth around Kentucky, this story is common. These 1,800 kids don’t have a permanent family to come home to or a place to really belong.
While the number may seem fairly high, the reality is that there are more than 6,000 churches in Kentucky. CHURCHES. If you were to take into account all the people that attend those 6,000 churches, I think we could find permanent families for those 1,800 kids. The numbers just make sense.
Every child has the right to a permanent family. We aren’t all called to adopt, but we can all do something to advocate for the needs of kids. Maybe you know someone that has been considering adoption. Or maybe you are connected with your pastoral leadership at church.
Will you consider joining with us? We need people like you to help be an advocate for kids. Encourage your pastor and other ministry leaders to join us for a special lunch to learn more. Russell Moore will be our guest speaker. If your or others you know would like to join us to learn more, RSVP here. We’d love to see you either September 6th at Adventure Church or October 4th at Southern Seminary.
Invite your friends to attend the main event, Wait No More, on October 20th. Pray specifically for the kids in your county foster care system in need of forever families and for the court system to make wise decisions about what is best for children.
Together, we can make a lifelong impact in the lives of waiting kids in Kentucky foster care.
