Church Leadership
The Church is the answer to serving and caring for vulnerable children and families!
“The church absolutely must be leading the way in orphan care. It’s not negotiable; it flows from the reality of the gospel.”
– David Platt

NEXT STEPS
OCA walks with churches desiring to serve those who struggle to care for vulnerable families, those who are in/or out of foster care, and those who have chosen to be foster, adoptive, relative, or fictive kin caregivers. Let us help you find the right level of engagement for your church!
It’s our desire to see your church “Pick Two”, one from each column to begin their ministry to vulnerable kids and families.
For example, your church could be an Advocate Church (Promoter) in the area of Family Support. Or perhaps you want to mentor kids and train and coordinate the volunteers with help from OCA staff you would be an Implementing Church (Owner) in the area of Life Coaching.
Level of Church Engagement
Advocate Church (Promoter):
We desire to be a church that desires to promote to our congregation the many opportunities to serve vulnerable children and families in our church and community.
Engaged Church (Coordinator):
We desire to be a church that coordinates ministry focused and driven around a specific area of serving vulnerable children and families in our church and community.
Implementing Church (Owner):
We desire to be a church that owns the ministry focused and driven around a specific area and desires to be the implementor, trainer and coordinator of all aspects of the ministry.
Ministry Focus
Family Support:
We desire to be a church that wraps around and offers supports to foster, adoptive, relative, and fictive kin families in our church and community.
Family Preservation:
We desire to be a church that provides supports to biological families in crisis ultimately striving to reducing the number of children entering foster care.
Life Coaching:
We desire to be a church that invest in teens and young adults that run the risk of aging out of foster care without any supports resulting in repeating the cycle.
