Orphan Care Alliance will have its Spring Adoption and Foster Care Seminar at Crossroads Christian Church in Lexington on Saturday, March 14 from 8am – 1pm.
It is a chance to learn the ins and outs of domestic and international adoption, embryo adoption, foster care, foster to adopt, transracial adoption, adopting older children and more.
Crossroads Christian Church Director of Student Ministry, Andover Campus Operations and Group Life Pastor Scott Morgan, who adopted two children through the state of Kentucky, will be the keynote speaker at the seminar and will talk about the Biblical foundation of orphan care and adoption.
The main session will be followed by breakout sessions covering topics such as international adoption, foster care through the state and private agencies, embryo adoption, financial assistance and fundraising, domestic adoption, transethnic/transracial adoption and more.
Breakout speakers share from experience – most have adopted children themselves, have been foster parents or work in an adoption/foster care setting.
Representatives from state and private Christian foster agencies, domestic and international adoption agencies and other support organizations will be exhibitors.
According to the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, more than 1,425 children in the Southern Bluegrass Region (which includes Fayette and surrounding counties) are in foster care. Statewide there are between 7,500 and 8,000.
