Host Family

As a Host Family, your home can become a refuge for a child whose family is in crisis.  Open your home to provide a safe, loving place for a child to stay while their parents regain focus on their lives.

OCA connects volunteer families with children who need a safe place to call home on a short-term basis, giving parents time to get back on their feet amidst crises that could lead to a family separation.

When a crisis strikes, many of us rely on relatives and friends for support. But for some families, poverty and social isolation mean that they have no support when they need it.  Often, a straightforward problem such as post-partum depression or unemployment can be debilitating. Children in these situations often suffer neglect or abuse; some eventually are removed from their home and placed in state custody.

Steps to becoming a Host Family
