Foster Youth: Breaking the Statistics

Maybe you serve the community as a teacher. Maybe your heart has led you to work in a women’s shelter or as a servant in your church serving meals on Wednesday nights.

No matter where your calling in life has taken you, if you think hard enough you can picture a close acquaintance whose childhood was not easy. A childhood that has led your friend to poor choices in the past which now identifies him as a broken piece in this puzzle of life.

Do you find yourself wishing you could love these people better? Do you wonder why God put them in your life?

As a funnel in the community, OCA seeks to connect Christians to the lives of local foster youth. These youth who long for a family or the simple childhood they were never able to experience. OCA longs to break the cycle of aging out foster youth turning to drugs and paths of destruction by pointing them to a savior who will change their lives and turn their mourning into dancing.

With programs such as Haventime, conducted by “Scully” Thompson, or Career Connect with local businesses, headed up by Bruce Zoeller, OCA’s mission offers opportunities to set up ways for volunteers to step in and start making an impact on local foster youth’s lives.

Their future is unclear, but without Christ, isn’t that true for all of us? Who will teach them if not the Body of Christ?

Can I just say what a comfort to find a person that truly
understands what they are discussing on the net. You definitely understand
how to bring an issue to light and make it important.

More people really need to look at this and understand this side of the story.
It’s surprising you aren’t more popular since you surely have the
    gift.
